I often think in music. \u00a0I live my daydreams in music. \u00a0I see my life in terms of music.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Really, is there anything music doesn\u2019t teach? \u00a0Music has the ability to reach every part of us, developing our whole selves. \u00a0It moves us and gets us moving. \u00a0It brings us together and creates meaning. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Music Benefits for Preschool Learning<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is a list of some of the ways we use music at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UDA Creative Arts Preschool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to benefit your child\u2019s learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eric.ed.gov\/?id=EJ819233\"><b>Math Skills<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are developed as children learn patterns, sequencing, beat, rhythm, and dynamics.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ecrp.uiuc.edu\/v8n1\/galicia.html\"><b>Memory<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is enhanced as children learn lyrics and repeated patterns, as well as curriculum.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ecrp.uiuc.edu\/v8n1\/galicia.html\"><b>Language<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> develops as children recognize sounds, syllables, vocabulary, story sequencing, and sentence structure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Science<\/b> <b>Skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are developed as children discover cause and effect with instruments and body movements. UDA Creative Arts Preschool also uses music to teach science curriculum in the exploration of the world around them. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Motor Skills <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are used as children use instruments and create movement. \u00a0Children love the opportunity to move their bodies in various ways to the music and to internalize tempo and dynamics. \u00a0Also, small motor skills develop as children learn how to clap and shake and tap instruments.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/parents\/education\/music-arts\/the-benefits-of-music-education\/\">Brain Development<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> occurs as children use both their right and left brain hemispheres simultaneously. \u00a0They practice using their eyes, ears, and bodies at the same time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Emotional Development<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> occurs as children learn to recognize feelings created by different styles of music. \u00a0Like Einstein said, it inspires children to dream and create.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Social Skills<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are developed as children interact with one another and the teacher during songs, and as they learn to take turns with the instruments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Self-Discipline<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is practiced as children learn to pause before playing, to leave their instruments in their laps, and to share. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Listening S<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>kills<\/strong> are developed as children listen to learn lyrics and rhythms and focus on sounds in order to recreate them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Happiness<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and joy are felt as the children giggle and wiggle, laugh and smile. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/D80_4638-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-203 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/D80_4638-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Music benefits children\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/D80_4638-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/D80_4638-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/D80_4638-1-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Music Activities For Preschoolers You Can Do At Home<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While we are implementing this wonderful teaching tool with our music activities at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UDA Creative Arts Preschool<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we don\u2019t want you to miss out on the fun! \u00a0Consider these music activities you can do with your preschooler at home:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1- Expose Your Preschooler to a Variety of Music.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Children songs are so fun, and we all have our favorite radio stations, but add some variety to give your child exposure to different rhythms and timbres. \u00a0The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slcolibrary.org\/rc\/rcbg\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salt Lake County Library System<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has a collection of music you can download for free with Freegal. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2- Name that Instrument!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Play a game when you listen to music and have your child identify the instruments they hear. \u00a0Drums and guitar are pretty easy to find on the radio. \u00a0Go to a classical station to add more instrument families. \u00a0You may even challenge yourself! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>3- Make use of Downtime! <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We all have those moments when an app is just the thing to entertain our rambunctious munchkin while we&#8230;fill in the blank. \u00a0Why not make it a learning opportunity? \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsensemedia.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common Sense Media<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides a list of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsensemedia.org\/lists\/best-music-apps-and-games-for-kids#preschoolers\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">music learning apps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for preschoolers, along with ratings and summaries so you can chose what works best for your little learner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>4- Sing!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sing in the shower!
