But one of the great benefits of multisensory learning is utilizing all learning styles. \u00a0Furthermore, did you know that multisensory learning can also help children with l<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.understood.org\/en\/school-learning\/partnering-with-childs-school\/instructional-strategies\/multisensory-instruction-what-you-need-to-know\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">earning and attention issues<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? \u00a0These children are better equipped to collect data and problem solve as they participate in a more hands-on approach to learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogsci.ucsd.edu\/~ajyu\/Teaching\/Cogs180_sp16\/Slides\/week8a.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have also shown that multisensory learning increases proficiency and effectiveness of learning as it accesses more parts of the brain, improves memory, and enhances brain development. \u00a0Yep! \u00a0That was auditory learning!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0135-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-226 size-large\" title=\"UDA Creative Arts Preschool\" src=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0135-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0135-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0135-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0135-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water tables are fabulous multisensory learning tools, as they just beg to be played in! \u00a0Whether using rice, water, sand, beans, or water beads, the feel of the medium on your hands and fingers are firing those synapsis all over the place! \u00a0Add the toys, and our preschoolers are busy little bees learning laws of physics while their processing brains go wild.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>3 Multisensory Learning Activities to Try at Home<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Puzzles and role playing are easy to play at home, too. \u00a0Get a plastic tub in the back yard and fill it with water, add a funnel, and you have your own water table as well. \u00a0But here are a few more fun multisensory learning activities to try at home:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>1-Play-doh<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The store-bought or homemade kind both work great. \u00a0Not only do they work their little kinetic minds while kneading the dough, they process so much more when you give them tools to use. \u00a0\u00a0Here are a few ideas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic knife or fork<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic scissors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cookie cutters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Milk lids<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wire whisk<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Measuring cups<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scale<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Muffin tins<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rolling pin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stampers- any shape you have around the kitchen<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And if mixing colors gives your OCD heart an attack, make your own dough and let them help you mix the colors in. (Make sure the dough is cool enough.) You can always make more if the final product is \u201cblah\u201d in color.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homemade Playdough<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 c flour<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 c water<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 c salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 T oil<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 t cream of tartar or alum<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food coloring- add to liquid<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Or add a package of Kool-Aid for scent and color)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cook over medium heat for 3 minutes until ball is formed. \u00a0Knead until stiff. \u00a0Store at room temperature in an airtight container.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>2- Cook!<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Popcorn. Lemonade. Cinnamon Toast.
