We packed in plenty of roaring fun, hands-on learning, fine-motor skill development, history lessons, science lessons, <a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/movement-activities-for-preschoolers-you-can-do-at-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movement<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/music-benefits-preschool-learners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">music<\/a>\u00a0activities, a field trip, and so much more. While they had an absolute blast, this activity also helped to develop hand\/eye coordination.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-271 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-8.jpg\" alt=\"d is for dinosaur\" width=\"569\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-8.jpg 569w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-8-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Digging through the sensory bin of sand, the children found plastic dinosaur pieces and put them together to make a dinosaur skeleton. Not only did the field of paleontology become more familiar to them, but they developed visual discrimination skills with this activity.<\/p>\n<h2>Dinosaur Habitat in a Box<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-270 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-7.jpg\" alt=\"d is for dinosaur\" width=\"569\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-7.jpg 569w, https:\/\/preschool.utahdanceartists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/uda-dinosaur-7-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Everyone added a new word to their vocabulary: Habitat.<\/p>\n<p>Together, we looked at books and photos of dinosaurs and talked about what it would have looked like where they lived and what they would have needed to survive. Then, with sand, play dough, plastic trees, plastic dinosaurs, and more, each child made their own dinosaur habitat. They included volcanoes, hot lava, a river or lake, and more. Some children even added nests and eggs because they remembered we had learned that dinosaurs hatch from eggs.
